Following the development of his sociology of religion, it successively analyses religion as a form of interaction, as a symbolic form and as a personal form. [Modern Business Ethics Research: Concepts, Theories, and Relationships - Springer Journal Article] The main purpose of this study is to explore and map the intellectual structure of business ethics studies during 1997–2006 by analyzing 85,000 cited references of 3,059 articles from three business ethics related journals in SSCI and SCI databases. In this article, co-citation analysis and social network analysis techniques are used to research intellectual structure of the business ethics literature. We are able to identify the important publications and the influential scholars as well as the correlations among these publications by analyzing citation and co-citation. Three factors emerged in this study are: (1) ethical/unethical decision making, (2) corporate governance and firm performance, and (3) ethical principles and code of conduct. etica business artigos
[Corporate Social Responsibility in the Blogosphere - Springer Journal Article] This paper uses social network analysis to examine the interaction between corporate blogs devoted to sustainability issues and the blogosphere, a clustered online network of collaborative actors. [Lost in translation: Bringing Hirschman's concept of voice back into the spirit of capitalism -- Christiansen 5 (1): 19 -- Management & Organizational History] The New Spirit of Capitalism relied heavily upon the theory of organizational decline and the concepts of exit and voice developed by Albert O. Hirschman in his seminal essay, Exit, Voice, and Loyalty from 1970. As a result, capitalism and its spirit were thought within an organizational paradigm. However, the integration of Hirschman’s theory was not unproblematic, since voice was excluded from the level of organizations, resulting in a failure to account for internal critique. By revisiting Hirschman’s theory, the context in which it developed, and by juxtaposing this with the theory of The New Spirit of Capitalism, it is argued that the spatial metaphors of ‘inside’ and ‘outside’ of capitalism should be revised, along with a revision of the analogy between capitalism and an organization. [The Hidden Adam Smith in His Alleged Theology by Gavin Kennedy] Adam Smith’s views on religion in Moral Sentiments are generally regarded as consistent with, variously, Christianity, Protestantism, Deism, Providentialism or some version of Natural Religion. This paper examines the evidence from his earliest essay, known as The History of Astronomy (posthumous, 1795) and his major work, The Theory of Moral Sentiments, through editions 1 to 6, 1759-1790, and locates his hidden views within his known biographical details, the censorious religious environment of 18th-century Scotland, his and relationships with colleagues within the Scottish Enlightenment . [Microfinance and happiness] Microfinance institutions are used to claim that their impact goes beyond money since rescuing from exclusion uncollateralized poor borrowers significantly affects their dignity, self-esteem, social recognition and, through it, life satisfaction. O EnEO 2010 constitui evento da Divisão de Estudos Organizacionais da ANPAD.

A realização do VI EnEO atesta a consolidação, o avanço e a fecundidade dos estudos em Organizações no Brasil. O EnEO 2010 abre a oportunidade para que os acadêmicos da área possam divulgar e debater artigos de forma mais específica. Os formatos de apresentação deverão privilegiar o debate aprofundado dos artigos e uma maior interação entre os participantes. Os artigos com melhores avaliações receberão fast track para publicação em periódicos com classificação maior ou igual Qualis B2.

Os trabalhos submetidos deverão, necessariamente, ser enquadrados em um dos temas relacionados a seguir. Quando o enquadramento for diferente, deverá ser utilizada a classificação “Tema Livre”, reservada para os temas próprios da Divisão, que não foram explicitados entre os descritos.

Escrito por Gilson Volpato, professor do Departamento de Fisiologia do Instituto de Biociências de Botucatu da Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp), a obra Pérolas da Redação Científica, publicada pela Editora Cultura Acadêmica, analisa 101 equívocos mais comuns na redação científica. O autor defende a idéia de que,

Os fundamentos da redação científica tiveram importantes transformações nos últimos anos, mas essas mudanças ainda não foram integralmente assimiladas por grande parte dos pesquisadores, que reproduzem – e muitas vezes ensinam – equívocos teóricos e conceituais que podem até mesmo retardar o avanço da ciência (via Agência Fapesp).

[Investigating Stakeholder Theory and Social Capital: CSR in Large Firms and SMEs] The concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR) has been widely investigated, but a generally accepted theoretical framework does not yet exist. This paper argues that the idiosyncrasies of large firms and SMEs explains the different approaches to CSR, and that the notion of social capital is a more useful way of understanding the CSR approach of SMEs, whereas stakeholder theory more closely addresses the CSR approach of large firms. A twofold consideration emerges. Our research investigates whether nonprofit, religious congregations can benefit from similar initiatives. We based our hypotheses on the Rational Choice Theory of Religion, which was developed by social scientists to bring economic analysis to the understanding of the effects of competition among nonprofit organizations. Using a sample of 250 religious congregations in five different geographical markets, an entrepreneurial orientation is found to be positively associated with organizational performance. Just as the economy requires certain individual level attitudes, labeled social capital, for its smooth operating, successful democratic governance requires a certain level of political capital, understood as properties and attitudes of citizens which are conducive for democratic proceedings. Despite strong theoretical arguments, there are few tests of these arguments. In particular, there is a lack of studies comparing the effect of civic culture with the effect of institutions. This paper undertakes an analysis of the relationship between political and social capital on the one side, and the performance of democratic governments on the other side.
