• [A desconstrução do espaço na Lagoa da Conceição] Esta pesquisa teve por objetivo diagnosticar a eficácia do instrumento ação civil pública com o Ministério Público Estadual e Federal na prevenção/reparação dos danos causados ao meio ambiente e na resolução de conflitos ambientais ocorridos na Bacia Hidrográfica da Lagoa da Conceição, no período de 1995 a 2005. Como instrumentos para coleta dos dados foram utilizados o levantamento e análise das ações civis públicas, ajuizadas no Ministério Público Estadual e Federal. • [Fatores protetores de adolescentes contra o uso de drogas com ênfase na religiosidade] O objetivo deste estudo foi identificar, entre adolescentes de baixo poder aquisitivo, quais seriam os fatores que pudessem preveni-los do consumo de drogas. • [Social Capital: A review from an ethics perspective] In this paper we extend previous reviews of the social capital literature to encompass an ethics perspective. First, we update previous reviews of social capital. Social capital continues to gain currency in both academic and practical circles, despite relatively little critical reflection on the implications of promoting this popular concept. Our work goes some way to rectifying this paucity in understanding what has been termed the ‗dark side‘ of social capital. In particular, we review the social capital concept from the perspective of three theories of business ethics: utilitarianism, justice and ethic of care. While the utilitarian perspective closely parallels accounts of social capital‘s rationale, the concept‘s operation is mirrored very closely by the assumptions underpinning the ethic of care, while the dark side of social capital is commonly given voice in justice-based critiques. • [Religiosity and Personal Well-Being: People Can Be Happy With or Without Religion] Despite all economic and social transitions that have occurred in the last centuries we still find that people go to church. Somehow religious beliefs have not vanished over time. Since there is no material reward for going to church or praying religiosity has to create utility through other means. It could raise peoples’ personal well-being. In this paper we use information from the World Values Survey about subjective happiness and life satisfaction. We relate this information to revealed religiosity and measure if religiosity makes people happier. We use different methods and also control for economic factors, family matters, health, and democracy. The key finding is that there seems to be a U-shaped relationship between personal well-being and religiosity, especially so for happiness. This result is consistent throughout all our estimations. • [Lost in translation: Bringing Hirschman's concept of voice back into the spirit of capitalism -- Christiansen 5 (1): 19 -- Management & Organizational History] The New Spirit of Capitalism relied heavily upon the theory of organizational decline and the concepts of exit and voice developed by Albert O. Hirschman in his seminal essay, Exit, Voice, and Loyalty from 1970. As a result, capitalism and its spirit were thought within an organizational paradigm. However, the integration of Hirschman’s theory was not unproblematic, since voice was excluded from the level of organizations, resulting in a failure to account for internal critique. By revisiting Hirschman’s theory, the context in which it developed, and by juxtaposing this with the theory of The New Spirit of Capitalism, it is argued that the spatial metaphors of ‘inside’ and ‘outside’ of capitalism should be revised, along with a revision of the analogy between capitalism and an organization. During the recent Palestinian presidential elections, the Hollywood actor Richard Gere broadcast a televised message to voters in the region and stated, “Hi, I’m Richard Gere, and I’m speaking for the entire world”. Celebrities in the 21st century have expanded from simple product endorsements to global political and international diplomacy. O pudor, ao proteger e manter escondida a nossa intimidade (é este o seu objeto), aumenta o caráter livre da manifestação externa do que somos e possuímos. O íntimo é doado livremente por que é possuído previamente. O pudico é mais senhor de si, valoriza mais a possibilidade de doar a sua interioridade. Na verdade, cuida mais dela quanto mais rica é. O pudor é, pois, o amor à própria intimidade, a inclinação a manter latente aquilo que não deve ser mostrado, a calar o que não deve ser dito, a guardar o dom e o segredo verdadeiros que não devem ser comunicados senão àquele a quem se ama. Amar, não o esqueçamos, é doar a própria intimidade. Por isso, diante do amado somos, deveríamos ser, sempre transparentes e autênticos.
